Welcome to the Kayak Support information page for the Great Chesapeake Bay Swim (GCBS)!
The GCBS is one of the premiere open water swims in the country, drawing over a thousand swimmers to test their endurance against the Chesapeake Bay for charity.
An important part of this event is the Safety Fleet, ensuring swimmer’s safety throughout the swim. Various local law enforcement agencies, the US Coast Guard, the Chesapeake Powerboat Association, and Jet Ski clubs all help out, but only kayaks and Jet Skis are allowed inside the bridge spans or near the swimmers, so the Kayak Safety Fleet’s role is a crucial one.
If you would like to volunteer for the 2023 GCBS Kayak Safety Fleet, please review the Frequently Asked Questions page and fill out the form below (don’t worry about any mention of contribution or payment, that’s just how CiviCRM does membership signup).
Thank you!
